Wisdom/Delusion

CD release concert

Last night I had the opportunity to go to a CD release concert for a local fingerstyle guitarist, Ben Woolman. During his two-hour long performance he played many of the songs available on his new disc, as well as a variety of “classics” from his other CDs.

His performace was outstanding and the large audience really enjoyed his music. Ben’s musical styles ranged from music as far back as the 1860’s to present day compositions (many written by himself). One of his unique pieces was written based on a camping trip, of sorts, with his wife to a relative’s “homestead” in South Dakota. The concert took place on the Hamline University campus, in Saint Paul.

Bravo, Ben!

A quote from the Wisdom/Delusion CD Web page:

Wisdom / Delusion once again displays Ben’s penchant for concise and inspiring melodies. It is a true fingerstyle guitar showcase with a uniquely pure sound that has something for everyone. It is a balanced and dynamic record which effortlessly jumps from emotional and lows, the sounds are stark in contrast but effortless on the ears — a constant push and pull, tension and release, which makes a great personal story and a very emotionally balanced collection of music. …

Check out Ben’s Web site and listen to the many tracks and clips available for download from all of his CDs!
